Day 1 – Arrive Ho Chi Minh City (D): Upon arrival, visit the popular Ben Thanh Market, where anything and everything is for sale. Enjoy a traditional Vietnamese Water Puppet Show before dinner, then check into hotel.
Day 2 – Ho Chi Minh City – Siem Reap (B L D): Today, embark on a Ho Chi Minh City tour. Still called Saigon by many locals, this is a principal centre of commerce, finance, culture and tourism in Vietnam. You will pass the now-demolished wartime American Embassy before exploring the Reunification Palace, which was the former residence of the President of South Vietnam until end of April 1975. Close nearby are some French colonial structures including the Notre Dame Cathedral, People’s Committee Hall and the Old Saigon Post Office. This is followed by a visit to the fascinating War Remnants Museum. Later, fly to Siem Reap (Cambodia) for overnight. Upon arrival, enjoy a buffet dinner accompanied by a traditional Aspara performance.
Day 3 – Siem Reap (B L D): Full day excursion to Angkor, the largest Hindu-Buddhist temple complex in the worls. Visit The South Gate of Ankor Thom, Baphoun, the Elephant and Leper King Terrace, Phimeanakas and Ta Prohm. After lunch continue to visit Chao Say Devoda, Thommanan, Banteay Kdey, Srah Srong and Angkor Wat – one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Enjoy a spectacular sunset view of Angkor from Phnom Bakheng Hill before proceeding for dinner.
Day 4 – Siem Reap – Hanoi (B L D): In the morning, visit L’es Artisan D’angkor, an excellent craft workshop, followed by shopping at Siam Reap Old Market. After lunch, visit the Cambodian Cultural Village. Transfer to the airport for flight to Hanoi.
Day 5 – Hanoi – Halong Bay Cruise (B L D): Drive to the spectacular World Heritage Site of Halong Bay for an overnight cruise (weather permitting), with a visit to Vung Vieng fishing village. There is plenty of time to join in the cruise activities, including sea kayaking and swimming. Dinner served on board.
Day 6 – Halong Bay – Hanoi (B L D): In the morning,enjoy sunrise over the bay, followed by a (non-compulsory) T’ai Chi class on board. After brunch, embark on a Bai Tu Long Islands Cruise visiting some of the most spectacular caves and grottoes (lunch on board). Return to Hanoi for dinner and overnight.
Day 7 – Depart Hanoi (B L): Embark on a fascinating city tour of Hanoi which includes Ba Dinh Square, Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum and Museum,the One-Pillar Pagoda, designed to resemble a lotus blossom rising out of a sea of sorrow, and the Temple of Literature which is dedicated to Confucius and honours scholars and men of literary accomplishment.Visit Hanoi’s traditional 36 Ancient Streets district by cyclo, the local name for a bicycle rickshaw. After lunch, transfer to airport for departure flight.
Note: In adverse weather conditions, the overnight cruise through Halong bay will be substituted with a night in a Hanoi hotel, followed by a day cruise the following day.
