 Day 1 – Depart for Melbourne.

Day 2 – Melbourne – Ballarat – Melbourne (L): Meet & greet at Melbourne Airport then depart for to Ballarat to visit Sovereign Hill, a preserved living museum representing Ballarat’s golden decade after the discovery of gold. Witness a gold pour, journey underground on a Gold Mine Tour, take a horse coach ride around the Township and watch the Red Coats Parade. Return to Melbourne for overnight.

Day 3 – Melbourne – Phillip Island (B L D): Take a Melbourne city tour featuring the Royal Botanic Gardens, Federation Square and the Fitzroy Gardens, with free time at the historic Queen Victoria Market. Should the market be closed (Mon & Wed), enjoy shopping at Direct Factory Outlet. Proceed to Phillip Island to visit Churchill Island Heritage Farm, a traditional Aussie working farm where you can enjoy hands-on demonstrations of sheep shearing, milking and blacksmithing. Visit the Koala Conservation Centre, to see koalas in their natural habitat, then finish the day with the fascinating Penguin Parade. Dinner & Overnight in Melbourne.

Day 4 – Melbourne – Sydney (B D): Take a domestic flight to Sydney and head straight for the city’s huge Fish Market, where you can buy your own seafood lunch from the 1,000-plus fish and seafood species available here. Take a Sydney City tour to view world-famous landmarks such as the Sydney Opera House, Mrs. Macquarie’s chair, the Harbour Bridge and the Royal Botanic gardens, and visit Sydney Aquarium, where sharks swim above you as you walk through an underground tunnel. Dinner & overnight in Sydney.

Day 5 – Blue Mountains National Park (B L D): Depart Sydney for the stunning Blue Mountains National Park, made even more dramatic by the thrilling Scenic World Railway, Cableway and Skyway. Ride the Skyway to Echo Point for breathtaking views of the Three Sisters Rocks and Jamison Valley. Return to Sydney for dinner & overnight.

Day 6 – Sydney – Gold Coast (B L D): Take a domestic flight to the Gold Coast or Brisbane (depending on flight availability) and spend the rest of the day at Paradise Country Farm. Enjoy activities like the stockmen & sheepdog show with sheep round-up, boomerang throwing and whip cracking displays; the sheep shearing show & ram parade; and the horse riding show with billy tea. At the Koala & Kangaroo Sanctuary, mingle with these charming marsupials in their natural habitats. Dinner and overnight at Gold Coast.

Day 7 – Gold Coast – Warner Bros Movie World Theme Park (B D): Enjoy a full day of family fun at Warner Bros Movie World. Meet your favourite movie and comic icons, hold on tight and get ready for the ride of your life. Movie magic comes to life every day at Warner Bros Movie World, Australia’s biggest and best movie-themed entertainment park. Dinner & overnight at Gold Coast.

Day 8 – Gold Coast – Sea World Theme Park (B D): Spend a full day discovering marine wildlife at Sea World, where the most magnificent marine animals can be viewed close up. Be entertained by live shows and enjoy thrilling rides such as Jet Rescue, Vikings Revenge and many more. Don’t miss the new Penguin Encounter, where King, Gentoo and Fairy penguins can all be seen in one place, and the equally new Seal Harbour, where you can stroll along the boardwalks to watch seals and sea lions at play. See spectacular valleys, panoramic views and pristine beaches as you venture over the enormous white sand dunes where other 4WDs simply can’t go. Proceed to Yanchep National Park, one of the oldest conservation zones in Western Australia. Day 1 – Kuala Lumpur – Christchurch

Day 2 – Christchurch – City Tour (D): On arrival in Christchurch, proceed for your City Tour. Drive through acres of well-kept parklands, gothic-style buildings and Elizabethan mansions, and discover why this city is also called “the most English city outside England”. Pass through the Avon River and Bridge of Remembrance, and the rugged Cashmere Hills where you can catch a commanding view of Christchurch city. If time permits, stop at the Canterbury Museum for the historical side of Christchurch.

Day 3 – Christchurch – Lake Tekapo – Mt Cook – Queenstown (B L D): Travel through the Canterbury Plains, over Burke Pass, into the McKenzie Country. Stop at the Church Of The Good Shepherd, a small memorial set against a spectacular backdrop of snow-capped mountains and turquoise waters of the lovely glacier-fed Lake Tekapo. Next, proceed to Lake Pukaki for a clear view of Mount Cook, also known as “Aorangi” or “The Cloud Piercer”. If weather permits, take an optional helicopter flight up to the Tasman Glacier and experience the thrill of landing on a sparkling white snowfield.  Moving on to Kawarau Gorge, make a brief stop at Mrs. Jones Fruit Orchard to purchase some fruits.  In the evening, reach the resort town of Queenstown, beside the deep blue waters of Lake Wakatipu.

Day 5 – Queenstown – Arrowtown – Christchurch (B L D): This morning takes you on a sightseeing tour of Arrowtown, an old gold mining centre renowned for its picturesque setting enhanced by rich colouring in autumn. Return to Christchurch via Cromwell and Omarama.

Day 6 – Christchurch – Picton – Wellington (B L D): After breakfast, head to Picton and board the inter-island ferry across the Cook Strait, which separates the North and South Islands, to Wellington, the capital of New Zealand. Discover this compact city, full of history, culture and character. See the old Government Buildings, one of the oldest wooden structures south of the equator, and travel up to Mt. Victoria, for its spectacular bird’s-eye view of the city and surroundings. 

Day 7 – Wellington – Taupo – Rotorua (B L D): Travel north through the Tongariro National Park, dominated by huge active volcanoes, and arrive at Lake Taupo. Visit the mighty Huka Falls and Wairakei Geothermal Power Station before arriving at Rotorua. The Rotorua District Tour starts at Te Puia for the Whakarewarewa Thermal Village and the Maori Art and Craft Institute. Witness skilled weavers and carvers at work and feast your eyes on kiwi birds, bubbling mud pools and awesome geysers. This university city of Scottish heritage has many architectural treasures, including gothic-styled churches with soaring cathedral spires, the renowned Otago University, the famous Octagon and the magnificent Flemish-style railway station. Also visit the oldest castle in New Zealand – Larnach Castle, then proceed to the Yellow-eyed Penguin Reserve.

Day 6 – Dunedin – Moeraki Boulders – Christchurch (B L D): This morning, travel north, passing through the townships of Timaru and Oamaru. Make a stop at the famous Moeraki Boulders, which according to Maori tradition are gourds and calabashes washed from the great voyaging canoe Araiteuru when it was wrecked upon landfall in New Zealand some 1,000 years ago. If you are lucky, you may even get to see native Hector dolphins frolicking in the shallow waters offshore. Enjoy the scenic drive back to Christchurch.

Day 7 – Christchurch – Rotorua – Paradise Valley Springs – Agrodome – Skyline Skyrides (B L D): Catch a flight to Rotorua, the Geothermal City. Begin the day with a visit to Paradise Valley Springs. Here, you will find numerous natural freshwater springs. Next stop will be the Agrodome, whose world-famous stage show features 19 breeds of sheep and performances by working sheepdogs. At Skyline Skyrides, take a thrilling ride in the Gondola high above the scenic city of Rotorua. For more excitement, go on an exhilarating ride on the kilometer-long Luge.     • Cancellation fees will be imposed accordingly when tour members wish to cancel their tour (see Small Print). However, SUNTRAVEL reserves the right to cancel or withdraw at any time bookings made due to insufficient group size, in which case any monies paid toward booking fees shall be refunded in full.
